Boy Meets Girl

scary faces in the sidewalk
staring at the ground
scarecrow me in the store window reflection

here at the bus stop waiting for the sun to rise
it's been a long night

me and my head friends been all around town staring at the pretty women
hey lady what's your name...you're really beautiful
she says her name's Diamond

My mind friends tell me she is the one
I never understood what the "one" meant
I'm young...and apparently stupid...just what I'm told

I open my eyes and Diamond's still there at the bus stop...still in the moment
She smiled
Is she interested? I think so.

Hi Diamond,I'm Kalonji...have you ever seen the sun at night?

This is so cute... a pleasant interchange that could lead to so much more. Well done Kalonji! Best wishes, Keith

Nice way to strike up a conversation huh? I loved the language in this piece, different slang and I really enjoyed this read today. Your friend in poetry, Lucinda
