Bowl of Cherries
"Life is just a bowl of cherries",
Do you remember that song?
Of course you don't my dear children.
You've not been alive that long.
I don't remember who sang it,
But I cheerfully hummed along
As the words came across on the radio,
Magically all the day long.
I didn't doubt for a moment
That my life would be ice-cream and cake,
With a big bowl of cherries to munch on,
Sweet goodies all waiting to take.
I've eaten my share of ripe cherries,
So many they started to pall,
While bitter fruits added in measure
Make cherries more sweet in recall.
This is your season my darlings,
So savor each last luscious bite.
Now while yet young, more songs to be sung,
Enjoy your Cherries Delight.

The lyrics he sang were inspired by The Great Depression. (I'm not sure if he wrote them.)
