B.Ovine S.Peculations

I wonder what you're thinking
while you are standing there
chewing cud so placidly
I wonder if you care.

What do you think about the sky
when stormy gray or blue
how do you feel about the rain
falling down on you?

What are your thoughts about the field
the grass beneath your feet?
Is it seen as something wonderful
or just wonderful to eat?

Do you ever question why you are
or why you're standing there
or is it just that you accept
the fact that you are here?

Are you speculating why
I watch you standing there
chewing cud so placidly?
I wonder if you care.

There are a lot of farms in the area where I live, especially dairy farms
which was the source of my inspiration for this. RG

Dear Robin, I'm using a borrowed computer for a few minutes and wanted to say "Hi." Like you, I have often wondered if cows (and other livestock) have any thought process, especiallly when bad whether is approaching. This poem broght a smile to my face, especially the last line! You are so clever in your observations; I feel like I am standing there with you watching the cows. Thanks for reading "Poetry." Love, Carolyn

spent my summers on a farm. and i milked a few cows when i was small. been kicked a few times and as i think about it cows were good at kicking with that back leg. but that's neither here nor there. this piece was a nice reminder of that time. and also thought provoking in the sense of wondering do animals think. i don't think they think about chewing cud, but i know they are very concerned with being milked. good poem. I often wonder the same thing, about many different animals. Cows especially seems so calm and peaceful. Wouldn't you love to know? I would too. I love farming areas. You are lucky. Love, Shar

Interesting questions? I didn't live on a farm but came from a small dairy farm community with relatives willing to share their work and joy with "town kids". There is inspiration in the world around us--glad you found some here. Keep on writing. Karen

And personally, and absoluely, speaking for I myself-it does not matter within the slightest way what the world thinks about me!!! The only opinion that matters at all-is what "My Father In Heaven Thinks About Me!!!!!"-And if I am well within "His Eyes!?"-Then within the eyes of others, for the most part, I shall also be well indeed---cont---

Yet, the bottom line I would have to say unto all of this is-within the end of all things, it truly does not matter, what another may or may not believe about oneself-for all that really matters, within my thoughts, is what one knows to be true within themselves!!!? For when we stand alone in front of the mirror so to speak-it is we and we alone, whom shall ultimately face ourselves-cont-

But having escaped the bounds of vision (my views) within this limited realm that humanity lives within-my perspectives about 'the deepest loves,' has somewhat shifted radically--for within my own beliefs!? To love someone solely within a temporal light, while sincerely believing that there is an eternal to come--would unto myself, become a somewhat shallower love I believe!? Yet, "All Love," to whatever degree, is a beautiful and wonderful gift to hold I would say-cont-

Smile-"Good Morning Precious and Beautiful Robin!!!"-This is quite a write here dear lady-of searching questions of perhaps a little more clarity towards any and or all!?-but within life, we all have our points of vision and perspectives I believe--often shaped within the paradigms of thought formed in part, amid the environments which surround us....I myself, love 'All of Life!!!"-cont-

So funny...I often have those same thoughts when I look out my back window. The rangeland behind our house has cattle grazing, and they often come up to our back fence and stare at us. What are they thinking...what kind of life would that be?? I know one thing however,.......they love to lean over and nibble on my shrubs!! No need to prune back there! ~ Love, Carrie
