Third Place

boulevard of the beloved

"I learned how to live unkissed, until . . ."
a man offered me his hand in friendship
     friendship that became love
so, many things in common shared
hours talking, laughing, and oh yes, kissing
oh, after losing my true love to death
                        years ago
I never imagined that love
                 would find me again
I had closed my heart to it
but this man found the key
that I had been hiding ~
"I filled the night's chalice with
                           knots of desire"
when we lay together
          his whispers caress my soul
and his lips leave me breathless
wanting to hold him close forever
and never let go
                but I am afraid . . .
"if time turns, will scars stain
            the sky (?)"
can I let the ghost in my heart go -
can I let myself live again -
weeping into my pillow I recall
another man whose kisses filled
    my heart . . . my soul
               he was my everything
I follow a winding path to his place
like a boulevard of the beloved
and standing at his grave
I hear his whisper from above ~
             live my darling, oh live
go on and know that I will
always watch over you
              be happy and loved
and by the way . . . . I like him too
oh heavenly lover, I will hold onto
 your love always
and today I am reminded of
E.E. Cummings poem ~( do you remember
 we read the words together)
"I carry your heart with me,
                  ( I carry it in my heart ") . . .
I will never forget you ~
