Notes About The Poem

Born To Write

I was born to be a writer-
    It just came to me quite young,
and even sometime- I am a songwriter.
    Since the beginning words in me have sprung,
but I never realized words could shatter my heart;
that my own words could make me fall apart.
And that I would in time consider my writing art,
       that rejection would be a dagger to my soul,
       I never knew how hard it was to reach my goal.
Oh, why must a writer suffer so much,
    and pour out our souls with weeping tears;
oh, why to a pen at night- do I clutch,
    and send my poems on wings with fears.
Each new poem to my heart press, press, press . . .

You are a born poet Constance, and we get the benefit of reading your beautiful lines. I'm so different, a lot of my poems are empathetic writes, feeling and expressing the feelings of others, but either way, we both suffer the pain in the write, and the poems become a part of us somehow!
