Note- The unknown , the horrors ones mind can conjure up are all there waiting for the time when clear mind has eroded into a weakened state and life's memories vanish to be replaced by those imagine horrors. The greater the mind's capacity for imagination, the greater and more horrible the terrors.

A Portrait of the Ravages of Alzheimer’s

Boarding Lost Ships Into Vast Unknown Seas Taking lost ships into vast, unknown seas sadly, with dark black sails set to full mast; sailing forth despite many urgent pleas to hold onto precious memories past. Gone, heartfelt treasures one holds deep and dear like wisps of smoke in a swirling whirlwind; struggling against depression and great fear of that deep abyss waiting at the end. Midnight waves arrive to wash life's slate clean with a silent blink they exist no more; so like grass, no longer vast, lush and green soon ahead will be just an empty shore! Tried, shooting vanishing ships full of holes rescue memories before they are gone; but those long shot volleys, take heavy tolls and cut deep into these old fragile bones. Robert J. The greater the mind's capacity for imagination, the greater and more horrible the terrors.

Great write!! Robert, You are so right, we do not choose what we forget. I had a father in law whom died due to complications to Dementia. And I was co-caregiver. I'm not a fan of it at all. It's hard for both the person and the caregivers. Again be blessed you and yours. Wonderful words. James :D

Robert such clever and powerful words describing such a horrible state of mind. I wrote about this subject not as well as you, Remember Me In Your Memories. Truly one of the best writes I've read all year.

Thank you Michael. I read your fine poem on the subject and you did a wonderful job of showing the great sorrow this disease brings into our lives.

I feel the fear Robert and I have witnessed first hand the devastating effects of Dementia on family members. Please check out the amazing cure that Charlottes Web CBD Oil has to offer. I have sent you a soup mail on this, but maybe you did not read it? You are truly an amazing poet, and as I have told you before one of the Best on this site. This is an amazing poem, powerful and poignant, and definitely one for the Fave List. Thanks for sharing....Maria xx

A strong piece of work Robert, a difficult subject to relay. I cannot comprehend the fear of forgetting who you are,or was and that loved ones become strangers. Thank you for posting your poem, kind regards, Kevin

Thank you Kevin. Thoughts on the looming darkness to come , invade even before they finally do arrive.
