Blue Trees

trees' seed
limbing

streetlight
fills lies

blue snap
mopped map

boughs break
away

blues stream
my cheeks

stop leaves
why me

changed, few
green, blue

An excellent very Paige-like poem. This set is soo perceptive: “ streetlight fills lies” = it amazes me how you see the reverse of what is shown. “Blues stream my cheeks” feels both sad & jazzy. I think footles is a good form for juxtaposition & flipping things upside down. Shine on !✨✨

This spare, fractured poem makes colour do the emotional work. Its clipped two-word lines and slanting sound echoes—“blue snap / mopped map,” “boughs break / away”—create a dislocated, almost wind-tossed movement that beautifully mirrors grief and bewilderment. The repeated blue gathers force as both landscape and feeling, while the final “changed, few / green, blue” leaves the reader in a strikingly altered world: pared back, cold, and intensely felt.
