Blue Daisy
Blue daisy in the field
such sadness now you yield.
My heart is clouded so,
unlike by sunny glow
of flowers that are bright
and grow to bring delight.
Your blue still fills my heart
with thoughts that so impart
a feeling of distress
devoid of happiness.
Your color makes me blue
and breaks my heart in two.
'Twas blue I wrapped 'round him
that day when life went dim,
and laid him there to rest
in his eternal nest;
blue daisy at his side,
the day he left and died.
Still blue as blue can be;
I lost my sweet kitty.
For twenty years he was
my baby wrapped in fuzz.
In blanket soft and blue,
with daisy...said adieu.
