Blood Of Winter

another foot of snow
the growing girl at the playground
laughs on her tongue, a
surface for the
          cold

when blue the nerves in her teeth

another foot of snow
where she could disappear
it follows her footsteps by footsteps
how deeply the snow's
        touched

it melts and becomes her skin

I almost left the site. I had deleted most everything, but I changed my mind. A lot of works needed editing anyway. Thanks for asking. Hugs

I can really relate to this one. I grew up walking to school in deep snow often in winter. I don't miss that part of childhood at all

So amazingly written, and true. We are a part of our surroundings, and they literally become a part of us as we grow. We don't have much snow where we live now, so, I think of the desert dust, not so fun as snow!

Dear Paige, a sweet song. I dread winter, but all seasons are essential.

Powerful poem dear Paige. In winter, the snow piles up foot by foot. When sun comes, it melts.
