Block Party

Dance, Ladies, dance!— By the light of lanterns. Let your red skirts swirl Like the tops of carousels— Candy-apple red. Dance, Children, dance! With your glowing adornments— Rainbow blue and green— Firefly green. The scent of gardenias Wafts from urban gardens— Gardenias and radishes. The night air breathes magic; The block has been transformed.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

I know you mean well, but your comment is not appropriate or helpful. I tried to send you a private message, but apparently you are not linked up to "Soup Mail."

No fear of 'dancers block' I liked the lines here A lot, a carousel of exitement, expansive night Within a neighborhoods dance night.'

Hi Carol: “Let your red skirts swirl, like he tops of carousels.” Great image and I like how swirl and carousel resonate. SuZ

Thanks. Another Baltimore poem. That city was so supportive and encouraging to all sorts of artists, at least in the 1990's. I wonder how it is now.

This is really great writing Carol! I like how this poem conjures up the wonderful sights and aromas of a summer night ... It has been a long winter and I can't wait for more nights like these to happen once again!
