Blind and Deaf

Blind and Deaf

To never see the world
to never hear a sound
always having
to feel my way around

To never see my mother
father or brother
to never hear them say a word
is like hanging for life, on the thinnest cord

To never hear my voice
to never see my face
is like living
without a trace

For me
nothing is ever clear
the world is filled
with darkness and fear

What is the sunset?
I do not know
for in my world, it will never show

What is music?
how does it sound?
it's something in my world
I've never found
and, never will

My world is silent, and always black
but courage is something, I do not lack

On my heart, lies a wish that's true
wishing to see the world, as clear as you.

Authors note: Just a reminder of how precious our sight and hearing is. It is truly a
wondrous gift, we must all be thankful for ......In honor of Helen Keller.......Always Maryam

We do take so many things for granted on a daily basis. An excellent reminder to be thankful, grateful and aware of these precious gifts. Love, Shar

A good reminder. We take for granted each day the gifts of hearing, of sight, of using our hands or legs...we should always be grateful for the things we do every day, things we do without a thought. ~ Good thought provoking poem. ~ Carrie
