Blanket Mine

Squish you like a teddy bear,

Hold you nice and tight

just to feel your comfort

in my arms tonight.

Your smell is so familiar,

I have held you every year

since I was a child

I held you close and dear.

To me, you are so personal,

though tattered and a little old

I could not bear if you were gone

You keep me from the cold.

I have confided in you,

you have wiped away my tears

and even braced me in the dark

from all my hidden fears.

It is time I say goodbye,

Maybe pass you on

to be my child’s friend

here so safe at home.

At least I know you are safe,

I know you will be well

blanket you are my dearest friend

If you could talk, the stories you would tell.
