Notes About The Poem

catpen

Blame It On the Cat

unwilling to speak
let alone write
I know what I'll do
the blame's not on you...
it's that silly cat, you know
"cat got your tongue", now also your pen?
tell me why
tell me when
"Here kitty....kitty...
bring that back here to me!"

cause your rhymes read out of time
once simply sublime
now crusty and bland
no life in your hand
walking down your poetry lane
heart heavy with pain
ghosts peek a boo
and I wonder, is it true?
there's not a line that is new?

Are you dead or alive?
oh, but I've got my pride,
yet I frantically search
Hoping to find
that feline on the run
well, you know which one
that cat that got your tongue...
and to my abject sorrow of sorrows
that cat's also run away
run far far away
with
your
glorious pen.

Hi Eileen, that muse shall leave us now and again but she always returns, brighter and better than when she left. Your beautiful words shall come forth again and beauty shall sing. I can relate to this. I keep myself a poetry notebook with poems i can use when the muse takes a holiday. Another wonderful, reak write from your pen. Hope the muse returns to stay for a long time. Have a wonderful Saturday. Hugs....Mike. XX

If I knew I could blame it on a cat I would have gotten one years ago! Have a great week Eileen. Hugs Rick.

Boy can I relate to this. I'm glad you haven't let that pen get too far away.

Hi Eileen, we are from the same birth of our country, i know when i was here 2 years ago we did not know each other the way we should, today i am back from being unhealthy and depressed, so i feel with you, and i want you to stay strong again, don’t block your life because someone left u to drown. Show everybody that you can take care of your life even on your own, do it before they succeed to throw you out. Love Terry

Dear...I'm so glad to know that you are feeling better. I also have gone through some health issues and depression is a constant companion. I will write as I am able. Thank you so much for your lovely visit. I wish you every blessing, dear.

It's ok to blame the cat once in a while, Eileen:) But do not chide yourself for lack of inspiration; it happens to us all at one time or the other. Even our faithful muse needs a rest, then it will return invigorated and brimming with ideas! Hugs // paul

You often play the role of my muse, dear. For that I am eternally grateful. I hope all is well with you and your dear sweet family. Sending you lots of love.

Don't cats have at least nine lives? ( And maybe more, I'm sure...) and they always land on their feet...( especially poetic ones...) I agree with Richard. Creativity doesn't die-it might hibernate, because it needs to. Creative poem! (((HUGS)))

Awww...what a sweet comment, dear. In intriguing way to look at this poem. :) Thanks for the visit. I don't want to love my joy of writing. It has been my companion for so long. Hugs.
