Blacky

BLACKY

Blacky is a large (of course black) black cat
Who simply takes with me (and little else) his room
         and board

With food he never strikes a mood
His passion is shrimp shrimp in all his food
Blacky is bored easily as are the main feline brood
He eats he sleeps he’d talk if he could
Petting is first loved then tolerated
Too much affection Blacky is sated (ho hum)
But let those tiny silky tail-fins stick out of a bowl
He’s dancing around and ready to roll
Oh, then, how he loves then how he rushes
then how he nudges prances brushes!
He’ll give me to know I’m his dearest friend
His antics (of the moment) never bend
Never fear his affections are merely on lend
For once bottomed out that is the end

At least temporarily

Coming back to Blacky. I really like this one, Daver!! He sounds so much like that thanksless cat of mine Sookie!

Finicky creatures they are, Daver. Your love and affection for Blacky remain constant while his are "merely on lend." Got a great laugh from this one, dear, and I know how much you love your cats. Love, Carolyn

You harbour a patron of gastronomy, Daver? Not only has he acquired the art and science of food, but knows where to find it.:) Fun and sweet write, one this fine onyx cat won't turn his nose at.:) Hope your weather is good and the heat isn't unbareable. Wishing you and yours the best!! Love, Mikki

I like this write of yours Dave! I am terribly allergic to cats, but I love them at a distance. I love to hear poetry about them as well, it reduces the sadness of not being able to raise the itchy critters ! Have a wonderful weekend dear poet ! Much love, james

lol. Excatly as most cats are. But ya gotta love them. Anyhow, Chapter four is much longer than I tought it would be - I am still writing - almost complete now. I will email you chapter 3 - which is short and chapter 4 - soon, and I will make sure each chapter has page numbers. Big love, Dave. Lainie

A good, entertaining write...full of smiles. I have two cats and they are affectionate, but crafty...and jealous of each other. Petting has to be evenly shared!
