Black Lives Matter
Black lives matter.
A strap line to appease the soul?
Granted, not without some value,
but will it really reach the goal?
Black lives matter.
Can words join souls beneath our skin?
Do they solve the darkness of the heart
and salve the views of kith and kin?
Black lives matter.
A shallow slogan with some use
reproduced by viral world wide chatter,
but does it touch the heart with truth?
Black lives matter.
Light wording for our broken world
fond of levity and musing banter
yet needing more heart’s truth unfurled.
Black lives matter.
Assuming I can cast a stone
as protest to the lesser soul,
but God is not my God alone.
Black lives matter.
An expression for our right felt anger,
though judgment of our fellow man
does not belong to hearts still darker
but to our God alone, who can.
