Notes About The Poem

Written July 16 2026 for Black Cat Moan by Glen Hugh's contest sponsored by Robert James Liguori

Black Cat Moan

Broken heart like broken bones
Life is hard from a broken home
Amplify my feelings I cry alone
Cat in me reeling black cat moan
Kicking my habits except guitar

Cat has to have it near not far
A rock song stronger than my heart
Tell me you’re over the hard part

Maybe I’ll see you again someday
Only crazy men can understand my ways
An electric guitar screams heart ache
Neon charge and scars why I play

Goshhh Karen! This is such an artistic and poignant take on the contest, i could hear the cry of the moaning cat beyond the screen.. and those last two lines are absolutely heartfelt and resonating.. "An electric guitar screams heart ache Neon charge and scars why I play" music does feel so much and more! I love electric guitars too.. pleasure reading your evocative words. Sending you light and best wishes for the contest ~
