Black Canvas
And let us paint on black canvas
And nail it to the wall
Like the cross that we bare
But never show to all
And let us paint on black canvas
To make our voices heard
With colours that stand out bright
Highlighting our internal plight
And let us paint on black canvas
With our feet and leave footprints in the sand
So the water washes it away
For us to keep creating once more
And let us paint on black canvas
So our soul bellows out
Showing off the bright white pieces
Throwing the light far, like a muted shout.
