I am so impressed that you pulled off 2 syllable lines and a complete telling, a thorough story with emotional impact. Now, that's a writer. So well done - congrats on your well-deserved placement ... CayCay

These were excellent, Jan! I never would have thought of using footles, but it worked to your advantage. You really pushed the boundaries of the picture ... and I think that's the goal when basing poems off of photos. Reaching out to something different.

Thanks Timothy - I love writing a string of footles to tell a story - so sad this is a reality for some victims of this terrible crime:-( hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan, Congratulations on your first place win in the contest, richly deserved for this right. The write makes me angry, very angry that anyone would treat a woman so. You have made the write real. A seven from me Jan. Hugs....MIKE. XX

Sadly it is all too real for some people Mike and the figures they quote in the press are probably a lot higher as many women never report these cases of abuse - I am delighted to place so well and hopefully get the message across to more people:-) hugs Jan xx

Wow Jan, this is awesome. I bet you are excellent at footles, though they are humorous and there is nothing humorous in the abuse in this excellent poem. Congratulations on your deserved first placement! #7

This is very good, Jan; where it not for the end line I would have thought it was made up of footles. I can't keep up with some contests...they get filled quick and get judged quick! Hugs // paul

Thanks Paul - I love writing footles and thought the requirement of the contest of needing rhyming and 2 words per line suited the footle form . i am surprised and delighted to place so well i thought my interpretation of the theme may have been a little too 'out of the box' :-) hugs Jan xx
