Plump redbirds were preparing, to head out for the south,
Like a wave on the turquoise sea, searching for a way out.
Green leaves were all aflutter, and red berries on the bush,
Honeycrisp apples were gleaming, in the late summer hush.
Pinks and peaches were dancing, with oranges and violets,
And summertime was departing, with precious few regrets!
Ivory clouds were wispy, like a summer gone up in smoke,
With one final burst of color, before golden time had spoke.
