Birds Or I Wish I Could Fly
The feathered rulers of the sky,
in many colors, shapes, and kinds,
dance through the waves of oceans high
to leave behind Earth’s crusted rind.
Majestic, beautiful, and bright
Their chords peel away dusk and dawn.
Completely safe in freedom's flight,
Secure to float upon a song.
But I compare not to such grace
For to the penguin I relate
I walk on ice with bobbing pace
and dumbly hack a curse to fate.
I wish I could fly
