Notes About The Poem

Birds and Bees, and Butterflies

Birds and bees, and butterflies… warm embraces, endless sighs, hearts aflutter, loving eyes - communing under dreary skies. Warm embraces, endless sighs, enchantment in sublime retreat; communing under dreary skies - October doldrums turning sweet. Enchantment in sublime retreat, hearts aflutter, loving eyes; October doldrums turning sweet - birds and bees, and butterflies. ~~~~~~~~ 10/11/19 Poet's October Pantoum Poetry Contest Sponsored by William Kekaula
*this pantoum has gone through a bit of a transformation, like the butterfly, to become something a little more pleasing to my own eyes and ears ~ So, if it looks a little different from first reading, you are not imagining things ;)

I love the revised version and the picture is perfect for the poem. The Monarchs have started to arrive where I live on their trek to Mexico for the winter. I saw quite a few this weekend.

Hello There, I hope the doldrums carry away on the wings of the birds, bees, and butterflies. But I would hope that anyway. -Richard

Lol. Not really experiencing the doldrums myself (funny word ;), but it sure has been gloomy. Mixed with the combination of cooler days and dying leaves, I thought I'd throw something different out there ~ Thank you, Richard :)

Beautiful poetry, to inspire the reader, on the gloomiest of days.

I think the title is perfect and the poem is perfect and you did accomplish your goal of adding a little warmth to the day. Your poem though autumn themed feels like a slice of springtime which is just what is needed on a dreary day like this. You could have stopped with the first verse and this would have been perfect. Definitely made me sigh.

Well, I changed the picture and a few words, my friend and entered the contest for fun! I think it's a perfect match and speaks more to the autumn season ;)

I know, even the image is warm like spring or summer, but I thought it might be a nice change for this day. I really appreciate your comments, Chris... This was meant to take a different shape, but in the back of my mind that pantoum contest popped up. Lol. I would have preferred ending after that first verse, too; just didn't think it would be enough. Thank you, my friend :)

Thought my title was clever enough and original, but it is nearly impossible to accomplish this, I guess. I'll leave it as is this time, because it is too much a part of this simple little piece...my first attempt at a pantoum while trying to add a little warmth to this day.

Nothing is impossible when it comes to poetry. You are a poet and the title comes from what you feel. Seems possible to me. : )
