Big Banyan
BIG BANYAN
Me, sturdy strong rigid banyan tree
standing on stream strand in gay and glee.
My tough roots cling to ground, keep me erect,
searching nutrients piercing soil perfect.
Birds chirp, make nest, take rest on branches,
scatter seeds eating red fruits in bunches.
My canopy of thick wide leaves on dense-spread,
provides pedestrian cool comfortable shade.
Blessed by long life, enjoying at least hundred years,
venerable, veteran, vigorous, vivacious.
