.

Beyond the breakers, dreamers hoist their sails Lost in the clouds, on ships of make believe A stowaway, escaping life's travails Adventurer, Inventing hearts to thieve Imagination wakes the inner child A problem, is an island to explore An argument, a king to be exiled Where grown ups, for a moment are ignored And yet we rarely ever take the time To let the inner child come out to play Or watch the clouds in silent pantomime Act out our fantasies of childhood days Beyond the breakers new horizons loom Imagination is your child's playroom Daniel Turner

This is so true Daniel. Having a grandchild helps to take one right back to those days of youth, and if one is retired, they can return to the world of imagination along with their grandchild and play becomes a delight to share. When I was working I never had time to enter those long gone days of imagination. I'm so thankful to be enjoying them now. I love this poem! I have been dealing with illness which is why I am rarely here. Easter blessings, Connie

It's a shame you didn't get this entered. Too often we say we've written a Shakespearean sonnet based solely on the fact that it follows the rules of meter and rhyme but we forget what makes Shakespeare so great - which is his soft conversational tone throughout his lines. You achieved that tone perfectly in this sonnet while expressing a powerful sentiment. To me, this is your best and proof of your immense talent.

Do you think you could have won even if you made it into the contest. The judge seems to have something against sonnets. I'll just keep on giving it the good old college try! Happy Sunday to you, Danny

Are you questioning my ability to count to ten, Andrea? In order to lose one's mind, one must have one first:) Lol
Date: 2/10/2017 9:18:00 PM
hmmm, I was counting the syllables and saw that some lines had 8 or 9. That is why I thought it to be that other form.(I've got that new form on my mind because I am thinking of trying it out possibly in the Broken Wings contest) I am so sorry that you lost out. So that contest already is filled? It's so unfair for you, Danny. I think it had a good chance. AS I read it , it did seem familiar to me but i did not put it together that this was one that had disappeared.

No, it is the Shakespearean sonnet that you commented on last week, that miraculously disappeared. This is a re-post.Too late for contest.
