Beyond Midnight

Beyond the stroke of midnight,
in a kingdom far away,
a fading soul is stranded
praying for the light of day.

He yearns to have the darkness
broken by a calming flame,
to bring his mind contentment
from this wicked worldly game.

Confused, he lays in silence
midst the demons of the night,
where tranquil sleep's departed
leaving agony to fight.

But just when hope has vanished
comes a brilliance from afar;
approaching with rare splendor
is his priceless morning star.

Radiating beauty
and surrounding him with grace,
she frees him from the bondage
of depression's cold embrace.

She wraps her love around him
in a blanket warmed by peace,
consoling him 'til morning,
when the daylight brings release.

He awakens to a whisper
and a tender kiss good-bye;
she promises his patience
will reveal the reasons why

It will guide him 'til tomorrow
when his dreams won't be denied
beyond the stroke of midnight
where his morning star resides.
