Between Two Shades of Night

Memories linger
Repeated..
Between two shades of night..

Another day gone, sunset dark
Years ago - hours ago
   the same
      ...two shades of night

A new day, sunlight
Another smile
One more mile
Left again to fight
Between two shades of night

Donna Jones, for granny gran....my mother in law...so sick...and also suffers
with moderate Alzheimer's .......God bless all who do....

You have so simply captured the devasting effects of Alzheimer's, Donna. I will pray for your mother-in-law. bfn Your friend in poetry, Elaine

I liked to think if I didn't remember it, it couldn't be too important & laugh at myself until one time, I actually at dusk [I see worse at dusk] got all turned around and didn't know which direction was home! PETRIFYING! [Have GPS NOW!] BIG BIG hugs so hard! Light & Love

Until we see the sun shine, we could still hope for a better day and don't give up because everyday is a miracle. I prayed too that your mother in law will get well soon.

You show a lot of sensitivity in this write, Donna. Can well relate..my mum was the same, but only in her later stages of life. "two shades of night" is the pivot of this poem. // paul

A very smart and nerve touching metaphor Donna, " Between two shades of night..." it really takes me to an intimidating depth of vulnerability. At least meaning remains in experience. Godspeed toGranny Gran, with respect, J.A.B.

So sorry for your Gran. My grandma had Alzheimers but for her it was probably one of the few times in life she experienced peace. She became very child like. I enjoyed your poem Donna. Hugs Rick
