Best Day of My Life

the best day of my life  

the best day of my life
was when the woman
of my dreams 
became my wife

for eight years 
she haunted my dreams
then one day she walked 
out of my dreams
and entered my life 

three days later
while walking in the woods
I proposed to her
and she said yes

two months later
we were married

It has been 45 years
since I first met her
haunting my life 
in my dreams


and 38 years since she walked 
off that bus 
into my life
becoming my wife

I met my fate
that date
she walked into my life
became my wife
