Notes About The Poem

Bench of Sighs

Iron spine in shadowed quiet,
Waiting for the warmth to stay.
Resting in the frosty moonlight,
Watching snowbanks drift away.
Holds the ghosts of parted lovers,
Tracing lines on weathered wood.
Endless winter never smothers,
Where the tranquil wood has stood.

Beautiful and painful thoughts of the bench that remembers stories of lovers and still waiting for the warmth of human touch.

Great use of soft language that tells stories about the history of this bench. Excellent work.
