Bells, bells, sound of bells fall now and then in my ears, Their tone and timbre varying, sometimes singing, Sometimes jarring, sometimes rising to a sweet crescendo. Clanging and clashing, tinkling, and jingling Every day I wake to the sound of the tolling of bells, From the church steeple early in the morning, A call to the parishioners to start their day, In prayer and devotion to the Heavenly Father Each toll causing varied impacts, sad or sweet. While wedding bells ring with a sweet melody It is with great dread that we listen to the alarm bells, Cautioning and alerting men of some imminent danger. As the funeral procession moves slowly down the streets, With men treading in silence and the bells ringing a doleful tune, Reminding us of the inescapable end waiting for each man, A foggy pain creeps through the alleys of the mind. Thus, the sound of bells through ages has been rolling, Through hills and vales crossing hamlets and towns Either whispering a sweet tale or forewarning an omen Producing timeless echo, vibrant and resonant in the eons of time!

Thank you, Valsa, for sharing this well worded contest entry with us. It reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Different sounding bells (sirens today) that we hear tell a tale of love or fear. I appreciate your nice work and your review of my mine. Sara K

I appreciate the flow of your words and how your described various bells with their emotional impact on us. I also liked the power of the last line 'producing timeless echo, vibrant and resonant in the eons of time.' That line was magnificent and powerful. A wonderful job and a great contest contender. Best wishes and have pleasant evening.

Dearest Valsa, how beautifully and effortlessly you have blended the sounds and musical qualities of bells like timbre, tone, crescendo, tinkling, crashing into this sound picture of bells. Wow this is so profound dearest valsa, your poem just flows seamlessly as always and you’ve highlighted all various kinds of bells . And i loved this line the most amongst all “ It is with great dread that we listen to the alarm bells” yes like fire alarm is scary and ive experienced that few times in the past and this line also made me think of morning alarm bells, on my phone the worst ever. Hah. Also i love how descriptive your wordplay is, so impressive especially the opening and the ending
