Belief in Our Nation and Way of Life

Raised to honor our land so free, Respecting the Constitution, a pledge to thee.
In eighth grade, a test we had to pass, A lesson in the values that would last.
The efforts of the framers, arduous and bright, facing oppression, they fought for their right.
Defeating their foes, two sacred documents they made, to serve the common needs, their vision displayed.
The Bill of Rights, the Constitution, clear and grand, to ensue no single belief could rule this land.
Democracy's essence, the power within, vested in people, political control to win.
Cooperation, deliberation, self-governance, we seek, Fair elections, protecting the future we speak.
Leaders accountable, to defend our precious way, For dignity and freedom, each and every day.
Never were our leaders ever to be a king, But defenders of our way they must bring.
If they fail this, courts were established, to fairly interpret so we are all protected.
The Constitution and our Democracy were intended to continue for all, throughout eternity.
So, if like me, you love our country, tell those elected that we must be totally free of rule by only one entity
.
To support and defend the Constitution always remain, Against all enemies, foreign or domestic,
Bear true faith and allegiance to the same. The oath taken freely when entering office or service—
We all should keep and never refrain.
