Notes About The Poem

================

Belief Becomes the Storm

A bee drags through glass—
          soundless, just the pane
tearing, like a caul.
Belief becomes the thorn.
I asked Him once. He turned His back.
The leaves fell —

We ride the storm, bare our suffered soul, & with expectations that He is there throughout our most desperate attempts & sorrows. I read hope is not lost, and there are ways to find solace and direction amid the darkness. As a believer, I pray for strength & will to survive & I embrace that God is there. The sun keeps shinning day by day, we should do the same. Daniel, exquisite metaphors. Thank you for sharing, looking forward!

I had to really think about this one, my friend. The bee dragging through glass is a haunting image: fragile, trapped, and soundless. I love how “Belief becomes…” crescendos to a piercing wound. The theological turn-- “I asked Him once. He turned His back.” --lands with unambiguous finality. The falling leaves--a quiet signal of abandonment? The ending dash leaves me suspended, like belief itself has been left unresolved. It cuts deep. Sorta "Ezra Poundish"…but better. Brilliant...blessings.

Hello Joe, Thank you for your encouraging note. I have started a series on evil, pain, and suffering, and why God allows. As a believer, I know He is always present, but I also know that through our suffering, we can sometimes doubt that He is listening. The number one question unbelievers and sometimes believers ask is, if He is a good God, then why evil, pain, and suffering? I will be attacking this in several ways over the upcoming weeks. Thanks Again, Autumn Blessings, Joe, Daniel

Dear Andrea, I have started a series without calling it a series on pain and suffering and why God allows. There will be a number of them being released over the next several weeks. Thank you for your encouragement. Autumn Blessings, Dear Andrea, Daniel

Quite emotive! We don’t have answers here and quite likely we won’t need them there. Keep believing through the storm. There is sunshine on the other side. This is great imagery and wording. Another fave, for I loved the impactful ending.

Dear Kim, yes, you are right that we don't always have answers. Through pain and suffering, we search for God, and although He is always there, we experience His seemingly silent ways. The question will always be why God allows evil and suffering, and I believe I have the answer. However, in my poem, I wanted to show that we, too, can experience doubt. Autumn Blessings, Dear Kim, Daniel
