Being Grateful

I’ve been stuck in a rut for a very long time
A prison of my own creation
But I’ve packed my bags, and it’s time to leave
I’m done with the pity train station

Lately I’ve been doing lots of thinking
About sad events of the past
I’ve worked through a lot of difficult things
It’s time to be free at last

Today is the dawn of something new
Happiness is on the way
I’m ready to leave the sorrow behind
I’m going to seize the day

Today I’m just going to be grateful
For all the blessings I’ve received
I’ll revel in the beauty that surrounds me
All the wonders that nature’s achieved

Any future tears from these blue eyes
Will only be tears of bliss
I’ll bask in the glow of the beauty around
I’ll welcome nature’s kiss

Lorna, Loved the poem Gratefulness is indeed a critical key. I swim a mile 5 times a week (not suggesting that you do a crazy thing like that lol) and use that time to do incantations a main part of them being expressing gratitude (got it from Tony Robbins years ago). Its worked wonders for me. No matter how much loss (and we all have our fair share we still have so so much to be grateful for. Take care my friend. Mike

Thank you. I’m working on being grateful, and not mourning the past. Baby steps.

Your words on another poem of mine have inspired me. They are words that friends have stated before, but sometimes it takes a perfect stranger to have the words sink in. Thank you for that. :)
