Behind the Door

All I've ever wanted is someone to hug. Someone to kiss. Someone to turn to when the day's grave is dug and reminisce. That is what I would choose now, if such were in my purview. I only wish I knew just how such a marvelous gem, from life's stone to hew. I don't think it's overly much to ask for. Not when I work so hard at making such a one smile. If each love is a room, and life is the corridor, I haven't seen a single door in a great while. These boots plod on, and still I yearn for the door to another way. For just the possibility to make a turn, perchance with an embrace to stay. I walk down that hallway, with kith and kin, stuck on the straight and narrow, one path in sight; oh, to see that door, to fall that far, again! Would that I could, would that I might.
