Behind the Blinds

Curtains or Venetian blinds,
Drapings, shutters, shades
Serve to keep our privacy
From peeping Tom parades.

Everybody loves a glimpse
Into another’s space,
Surreptitiously, of course,
And never face to face.

Which is why our views are blocked
With drapery or blind;
Thus it’s more enticing, wond’ring
Just what hides behind.

Often, though, we’ll get a peek
At furniture and shelves
And people who, ironically,
Live like we do ourselves.

Well good for you, you have discretion. Just a glimpse of an impression. But truly I hoped for some more. I guess you have to go through the door. :)

So true! I often walk around our neighborhood in the evening, and it's most interesting to get a brief glimpse before the blinds are pulled, to see how the "other half" lives....I suppose curiosity killed the cat....but so far, I'm still alive !! lol:) a good theme for a poem!

:) Ilene...your poetry ALWAYS brings a smile! Wish you could see me here grinning from ear to ear! I LOVE your work! You know you are one of my Favs, right???? HUGS! Peeping Toms will peek no matter what you have up there!!! ;) Did I scare ya? ;) Oh...I need to get some curtains cause I'm notorious for just "feeling at home" and the building a few paces higher on the hill has surveillance camera! Would that be a gas to see the footage!! Ok...I'm babbling! Love ya!
