Behind Sight
Am I who I am
or all the people I was
Do you discard me now
just simply because
I’m not pretty no more
handsome or spry
I don’t wear fancy clothes
a suit and a tie
Now that I’m older
You don’t hear what I say
So I will just listen
as I slowly fade away
Remember who you are
won’t be the person you’ll be
In the end it will be different
one day you’ll be me
Old is a kinda condition
That’s what younger ones think
Wisdom is easily ignored
from that pool they don’t drink
Try looking into my eyes
No reason but because
Answers to unasked questions
revealed in who I once was.
Dedicated to my Buddy David Gebhart
