Behind Castle Walls

I thought I was safe behind Castle walls Within my Kingdom I made the rules There outside the gate I heard her calls Why did I choose to listen to fools I opened the drawbridge, let her in Within my Kingdom I made the rules I had not known where she had been Her ideas corrupted my mind I opened the drawbridge, let her in In the beginning she seemed so kind At my table together we ate Her ideas corrupted my mind Completly unaware of my fate She beguiled me, with that lovely smile At my table together we ate I became subdued after a while She beguiled me, with that lovely smile I thought I was safe behind castle walls There outside the gate her lover calls Written February 3rd for Shadow's Castle Contest.

I'm in awe of this poem's swirling quality. I didn't notice what form it was in when I read it but I must say that it flows really well like dizzying spiral of good and unfortunate events that we all may have already experienced.

I think that we all have built our castle walls to hide behind. And, it is always difficult to let someone new invade our privacy. I enjoyed your interesting take on the castle theme. Very nicely done, Richard! Congratulations on your win, as well!

Thank you, we had an excellent trip on New Zealand's North Island, east coast. Firstly to a great wedding in Gisborne, and then to my fav bay in NZ -if not what little of the world I have seen- Tolaga Bay. Have written a poem about it the bay, for posting soonish. I hope the tweet went well, this poem deserves it. Cheers Scott
