Beginning of the Downfall

I was a senior in high school and I still remember That Friday afternoon in late November Early dismissal after saying a prayer Disbelief and sadness filling the air He was a man with vision and a silver tongue He was the type of leader who inspired the young A political wisdom in spite of his youth They appointed a commission to suppress the truth A Russian immigrant would be accused of the crime They had him shot to give the cover up more time Witnesses died mysteriously over the next five years Media controls what the nation hears Too many questions still unanswered today With government involvement they all got away The story on every radio and television station Watching the beginning of the downfall of a nation. In my heart, I believe Lee Harvey Oswald, Jack Ruby And the American people were all victims of a cover up By our own government. God Bless JFK.

i was 20 years old when JFK was killed and i cried for 3 or 4 days. and i agree it was a cover up. a lot of people died right after this happen, to keep them quiet. who knows who did it. the FBI, The secrect service, the Mafia, it was a very sad day and like your title says beginning the down fall. this was a great poem. thank you for reading my gentle robin and for your comment.

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way. Franklin D. Roosevelt

This was such an unforgettable nightmare of events, a sequence of tragedy and unanswered questions that I too, will never forget, and will ponder from now till the end of time.

I just watched a program the other day about this..They used scientific means to prove that the shot that killed him came from where they said it came..JFK did not have a chance..Someone with very good vision and a very powerful weapon and good aim..I had never seen all that before..He was dead when as soon as that second shot was fired because there was no way a person could survive that wound...It was a sad day..He was an intelligent man..Sara

There is a lot of plausibility to what you have stated here. Nice descriptiveness and rhyming to describe that infamous event which took place the day after my seventh birthday.

YES,I saw an excellent movie about that poor Russian immigrant. It is hard to believe he would have masterminded such a plot. YOu are so right, and this coverup is going on until today. I will not give my opinions about the past decade's coverups because things I believe are too controversial. I might get thrown off soup. haha. Thanks for commenting to my blog. LUv, Andrea

the good thing is God know and what is in the dark IT WILL come into the light. God will pay them for he has spoken of their crime. perhaps to this day they are doing time. let us pray that it is on this side. john

I'm convinced this was some type of government conspiracy too, Vince. You're a very talented writer and I love your poem. If you've entered it in the history contest, I wish you good luck. Diane

Hey, I was there too. I remember that day and what you say here may just have some merit to it. I'm not sure if we will ever know the truth about who was really behind this terrible thing, but like you, I believe it continues today. Your poem was well written and I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing.
