Before I Was Hidden In It
The world is so big and noisy and busy,
I have become but hidden in it.
Remembering the honeysuckle,
When life was so sweet and delicious.
When plump little hands of innocence,
Squeezed a string ending in a drop of honey
Into pink lips of a chortling face
To inspire the cuddle of dewy wild flowers
To say “I wuv you, Mother.”
Then as she smiled, I could smell
A scratch-baked yellow cake.
She read to me at nap time.
Before a world so big and noisy and busy,
Before I was hidden in it.
