Bees and Lavender

Sitting down to watch the bees bobbing
through the lavender,
I felt that strange, familiar impulse
to speak to you.
It must be muscle memory,
I've not felt that way for years.
Drowning in that drowsy,
buzzing lavender bed,
Willing my heart to leap a little less.
