Bed Built For Two

Here I lay
	at 12:10
on this bed
	built for two
that tries
	to sleep one,
but sleep is hard to find
	as we love each other
from a distance.

It’s hard for this man
	who fell in love
with you
	when still a boy
to close his eyes
	and not see
	your face,
to listen in the quiet
	and not want to hear
	your heart beating with his,
to touch the sheets
	and not need to feel
	your body between his hands.

All this and much more
	do I miss
when you’re not here,
	and I lay
on this bed
	built for two
that tries
	to sleep one,
but can’t
and won’t
	without you.
