Becoming
Responsibility grows over time.
When planting a tree years pass,
Before you see a full-grown tree,
Remember it started as a tiny seed.
Working on becoming my own man,
Not following someone else’s plan.
Saving up and spending smart,
Starting feels like the hardest part.
Reaching the point of change,
Is a lengthy and consuming route.
Exhilarating sensations of excitement,
Run through my body like a zip line.
Nothing compares to the joy,
Of having a new car in your name.
The feeling of an accomplishment,
Without an ounce of guilt or shame.
