Because of You

Dear God you gave me the talent
To paint pictures in words and in oils
These pictures you implanted
In my mind and soul.

A lazy rolling river
Between giant canyon walls
Where it turns into a torrent
As over the falls it goes

The early morning sun
As it crawls across the land
Brings the promise of a new day
Another miracle from Your Hands.

On a spring morn, when the gentle wind blows
I watch the seed of the lacy Maple
As it leaves it's mother's arms
Seeking a new spot to carry on her charm.

The grass that grows six inches high
Following a generous rain
Where cattle and horses eat their fill
Not wanting for their grain.

A dust devil sweeps the land
As it twists and twirls along
But beware of it's cousin the Tornado
Leaving nothing the same when it's gone.

Birds, lightening bugs and butterflies
Around my flowers glide
Billy the little rabbit
Eats the apple slices I provide.

The majestic mountain, dusted by snow
Covered with forest green
Protects the animals in it's care
That share this earth with me

The spire of a Church,
At the end of my long ride
Shows me a place to rest
And welcomes me inside.

As the night’s comforting arms around me fold
I thank God
For in my writing I can share
All the wonders I behold

The clouds I saw yesterday
Were so large fluffy and white
But the one cloud that caught my eye
Held the doorway to Heaven, open wide.
