Because I Love You
A couple thoughts on this poem: Not all poems are sunsets, flowers and happy places. There is a dark side to this world where children are abused. Many times the abuser claims it is done out of love. While we write of wonderful things, if we want to change this world we must write of the hurt of the innocents also.
Love is a beating
Daddy says
I threw you down the stairs
Because I love you
Love is hair ripped out
Mommy says
I burnt you with a cigarette
Because I love you
Love is rape
Uncle says
Its our secret
Because I love you
Love is denial
Grandpa says
You don't need to eat today
Because I love you
Love is abuse
Evil says
You are my property
Because I love you
Protect our children
