Beauty Killed the Beast

There he lay, dead to the world
Did he give up his hold on life or her?
Did he give up at all
Or is it through death he is closer to her?
She knew that she loved him,
But also knew, it just could not be.
It could never be, as it wouldn’t work,
Two beings from two different worlds
Allowing their love to bring them together.
Here, in this city of concrete and glass
From the jungle of dirt and trees,
They tried but had failed.
Woe, to the interlopers,
But woe to her, for it was
Beauty that had killed the beast
