Beautiful Sadness
Can beauty walk with sadness hand in hand?
A patent contradiction it would seem.
Yet merged in life they help us understand
In greater depth the worth of each extreme.
Beside a grave where untold tears are shed,
We feel the loss which permeates the air.
Yet roses bloom and birds fly overhead
As happy memories are gathered there.
A plaintive violin can tell the tale
Of hopeless lamentation and demise,
And yet the music's beauty cannot fail
To stir the heart as spirits empathize.
And where a grain of wheat falls to the ground
A harvest of new life will soon be found.
