Beautiful Lies

Because of eyes as warm as honey, I was melting, but the love I first believed was shown me in his gaze was but a lie. He uttered not a word; I was deceived! He leaned in for that first romantic kiss. I melted more; my heart did somersaults. How easily that man could bring me bliss. But I would learn his luscious lips were false! His gorgeous body, hard, pressed into me. I felt his fingers softly touch my skin. I totally dissolved! How cleverly he’d worked unspoken lies on me again! That young man with his beautiful brown eyes at last destroyed me with beautiful lies.

Andrea, your sonnets are always as warm as honey to me. Happy I read this, glad it wasn't a non-fiction write! You are so great at sonnets, you could probably write one about a Coke commercial and win a prize, haha! My compliments and congrats on your deserved #1 ~ John

Andrea! Congratulations on your first place win. Oh, betrayal - so painful. Something no one should have to experience. Yet your poem shows how you were able to heal and share your wisdom. So excellent!

Funny, Seren! I exaggerated this poem and if I could name any one guy this poem describes, he is so far away in my past I would not even know how to find him so you and Mandy could beat him up for me!haha

We all have been victims of CUPID, this winged-tyrant of our hearts. He leaves us something though: The moment we believed in and the poems we write afterwards. Wonderful suffering that the sweet arrows of CUPID had in store for us. Marvelous poem! Thank you.

mine was a blue-eyed liar. great entry for the contest Andrea. ( Honey is working out fine, she still has trust issues , but she very rarely hisses or bites anymore, only if you make a sudden move that scares her a lot)

Wow! An amazing Sonnet. I wish you success in the Contest. The story of a lustful and licentious youth is beautifully narrated. Thanks for visiting my poem The Aging Tree. I am glad you like it. Love. -Mohammad
