Beautiful Irony

Crystal clear skies dominate the scenery
A cool breeze at summer's end
Each combined to create perfect beauty
Designed to bring joy to the hearts of the most hardened souls
So I turn toward my friends
Searching hopelessly for their happiness
For a sign of appreciation for the beauty of it all
But that I cannot find
All I see are broken hearts
Disheveled lives
Wounded feelings and lost souls
While all the while
My mind is overwhelmed by the beauty of the day
And the inability to share the happiness
What beautiful irony

It was, in a way. When I wrote this, I was feeling both sad and happy at the same time.
