Beautiful Dove

I take you out with gentle finger, To coo and comfort my tortured soul. Nuzzling your beak against my cheek. Gives me goosebumps and comfort from Thought. Mesmerized by your tranquil feathers, Makes me yearn to be free. To soar with you in the clouds. We could be magnificent together, yet You’re caged until healed from a broken wing. Sadness, uninvited, is a noxious vine planted In my heart. I must heal as well, To be better for you. We may one day rule the skies together, And look down upon the world Left behind. Stronger, purposeful, to the end of our days.
