Notes About The Poem

A heartfelt thank-you to Kim Rodrigues, whose poem, "Why thumb your nose at God,' posted July 15, 2020, inspired this senryu.  Most appreciated, Kim!

Bear No Grudge

Neither revenge take
Nor a grudge bear; sure the first
will the second be...

For I am the Lord
Revenge is Mine; yours, to love
your neighbor, like Me

Howling?! Why, I have lain down with the sheep; beaten my swords in plowshares... ~ Isaiah the Wolf

Great mini-sermon, Gershon! As we used to say in the Air Force, that'll preach! Have a grand day my friend - Bob H

Hey, hey, Bob! You're gonna turn me into the first 'Jewish Preacher' in the History of 'Moses, by Jesus!, First Baptist Church!' lol. Thank you, and Happy Thursday! :) gw

How wonderful that the words of another poet were so inspirational to you that you've written your own wonderful lines based on them. You're right, Gershon, vengeance is not ours to take, though sometimes hard to resist.

I'm like the guy who became rich by scrounging around in the back alleys of Chicago for scrap metal, and built it into a business empire. (True story)... I often feed off of a word, a phrase or a thought in someone else's writing... I am a pretty good 'Password' player. It's all about connecting the dots... Thank you so much for the lovely comment! Joy and Light, Gershon

That's right, Harry. The words of the Man Upstairs never lose currency. Thanks, gw
