Beach Ball

Plastic rainbow of my own hot air.

Blowing into it all my frustrations.

Give it a strike to show it whose boss.

How quickly I’m mesmerized as I watch it spin.

Leaves me smiling for no apparent reason.

Takes me back to when cares were none.

Any game ready at hand with one.

Puts me in a cheerful mood just spending some time.

Like my own inanimate pet.

Ah, the beach ball. Still one of life’s simple secret escapes.
