Andrea, a 61 yrs-old abled-body ex-con of 20 years, lives in a boarding house in town, on welfare & EBT, trying for widow's benefits from his wife who died before he served her the divorce papers. Friday's Salvation Army for grocery bag/med. pizza, more bags at Food Pantry, and free lunch on Tues/Thurs at the soup kitchen. He hollers so I come out from my townhouse balcony fronting the main street on his way to the bayfront, OMgosh, Thank-G only 7 days to a week, CHEERS 4-WIN! Aloha, William

I see this here in South Africa also the lazy think we owe them a living, and that all should be shared. However i have seen several success stories of pers0ns that have worked for us, one started from her house doing alterations with one lady helping her. Now has rented a shop doing alterations which grew out f control, rented a shop and now is very busy with 6 employees. Another was a chap who used to paint our home every second year and again became very busy and now has a painting contracting business. Entrepreneurship is is for the wise and energetic, our traffic lights are often out and traffic police appreciate the help of many young men who are not trained but who I am sure will be approached for a permanent job in the future. Andrea dear friend I agree with your wise words and engaging poem! I hate to see the young begging. wash a car, offer to carry groceries, help an old man or old lady across the street. I know few that live on welfare benefits, and they refuse to work because they might end up not gettn it. Wise words to live by, Andrea; but the Marxist fools running our nation are constantly working against decency and sanity. Globalist want the nation to fall into rubble. My opinion on the matter for the little it may be worth.

Yes, we do need good modeling to teach responsibility. We do have so many living in the streets and so many having their hand out. God bless you.

That's the problem with this world. We do need to be responsible. But we make our own laws and discard those that don't suit us. Hugs and blessings

I fully agree with your message. I have been on welfare when my kids were young. I despise the system. $30k a year and you are "over income" to get help. That is ALMOST enough to pay your bills if you live in a paid in full trailer in a trailer park where your lot rent is $500 a month. I know that better than anyone I suspect, because it was my reality for quite awhile.

I applaud every word of this, Andrea. Of course there are those who simply cannot work but, so, so many more who milk the system. I recall taking my dog, bleeding from a bad dog bite, into the PDSA (charity animal vets) because they opened sooner that my actual vet. My dog was bleeding on their floor and I was happy to pay… “IF YOU’RE NOT ON BENEFITS, WE CANT TREAT HER,” they said. They’ve had not one penny of my hard earned cash in the 35 years since. It’s simply too easy to laze these days.

A good start would be to write more about family and friends, not too much out 'bout children and grandchildren, I think. It just might have a realization with poets and become more responsible. A good list to live by, Andrea you're so sweet.
